Modules

This module provides an in-depth understanding of the theoretical underpinnings and the practical implications of international approaches, models and regulations of managing people in a global context. Through this module you will examine the different models of international human resource management, the major employment policies of multinational companies and the problems that arise when operating in different countries.

Managing a project is akin to managing a micro-organisation. Everything is there – handling budgets, managing people, leading change, analysing and treating risk, dealing with contractors, managing stakeholder expectations, and overseeing all aspects of the project. In this module you will use various tools and techniques to help understand what is going on in your project and to ensure that you develop a quality product, service or process that is delivered on time, in budget and to specification.

This module equips you with an understanding of the complex nature of leading and managing people when implementing and evaluating change in organisations. The relationship between task, people and technology will be analysed in the context of organisational change. Factors that necessitate change and the main indicators of change are critically analysed. Different approaches to leadership are examined, as are alternative models of organisational change.

Within this module, you will learn how to critically analyse the accounting approaches that go towards the creation of financial accounts and budgeting. You will also develop the skills necessary to evaluate common financial control mechanisms and tools to help with financial decision making.

Generating useable data for decision making is a task that needs an awareness of many factors. To be able to do this you need to firstly understand the question being asked and then the data that you possess. Do you have all the data you need? If not, how will you find it? How will you clean it? How will you process it and present it in a way that is beneficial to the decision maker? All these technical questions will be answered in this module.

This module enables you to gain an in-depth understanding of and critically evaluate contemporary issues in marketing, from a theoretical and practical perspective. Given the fast-changing nature of contemporary digital marketing practice and of the context in which it takes place, the module explores recent developments and emerging issues in the field to provide you with an up-to-date, evidence-based perspective on digital marketing and its broader societal implications.

This module supports the development of effective entrepreneurial, innovative, and leadership mindsets. It will provide you with an opportunity to explore contemporary theories, essential principles of entrepreneurship, and innovative organisational environment in a variety of contexts. You will explore the required entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and attributes for success.

Starting a new business venture is more than simply identifying a good idea. To be able to find sources of funding for that idea involves creating a credible business plan. This includes an evaluation of that idea, assessing risks and uncertainty, identifying potential markets, developing efficient and effective operational processes, ensuring you have a Unique Selling Point (USP) and determining whether you make a profit from the venture on the price you can charge. Each week, you will take an idea of your choice and gradually build this into a compelling business plan that can be used to explain the new idea to your superiors within a business or an external financier.

This is the capstone to the MBA programme. The focus of this capstone will be directly related to any pathway you have studied. Regardless of which MBA you have taken, what you are assured of is a project which will be directly related to an authentic business challenge and you will be able to deepen your knowledge in the area you want to concentrate on.

This module is designed to introduce you to research methods and statistical analysis. Theoretical, historical and statistical concepts are taught using both quantitative and qualitative techniques that allow you to put theory into practice and conduct an in-depth research project.

This is your opportunity to shape the project you will undertake in the capstone module. In the research methods module, you will have learnt different approaches to undertaking a research project and these will help guide you in your management investigation.
